Focus Engineering is currently looking for volunteers to fulfill this position within the organization of our client Energía sin Fronteras.
Energía sin Fronteras (ESF), is a Spanish NGO committed to developing energy, water and sanitation projects in remote and hardship locations in 3rd world countries. ESF works closely together with local project partners and is executing projects and a remote working basis from Spain.
The Job:
▪ Provide ESF project management together with the Tabruz Project and its stakeholders: Spain and French Cooperation Offices in Mauritania, Save the Children and UNICEF among others
▪ Lead a team of ESF volunteers from different areas (Technical, Provisioning, Sustainability, Finance) performing the analysis and execution phase of the project, ensuring the solution meets the project requirements from the social and technical aspects.
▪ Perform the typical Project Management activities, applying the logical framework approach, with specific focus in understanding and providing solutions for the needs of the beneficiaries
▪ Keeping a close and continuous interface with the beneficiaries, local social partner and the other NGOs collaborating in the project
▪ The project life cycle of these projects are between 3 – 5 years.
• Engineering degree – think and work as an engineer
• Fluency in Spanish, English and preferably French. Arabic is a plus.
• Experience in the implementation of cooperation projects and knowledge of the logical framework approach
• Experience in team management and reporting
• Preferably experience in renewable energy projects such as electricity, water or sanitation projects
• Commitment of 5 hours per week of remote working on the project for 3 years minimum
• Possibility of traveling 4 weeks a year to Mauritania. Ability to work in rural areas is a must.
• High level of commitment with the project maximizing its contribution to the community
▪ Working in part time as pro bono volunteer, leading the ESF team for the development of a children education project in Mauritania with the Mauritanian Football Federation in the Tabruz project.
▪ You will be the person responsible to facilitate electricity, water and sanitation projects in around 15 locations along the country serving the needs of over 15.000 children.
▪ You will not have a salary, except for the honor of fulfilling your purpose by giving opportunities to thousands of children in Mauritania. The costs of your trips to Mauritania are covered by ESF which includes flights, hotel, local transport and food.
▪ The work can be done remotely, from your home office.
▪ Site visits to Mauritania. This will be 4 weeks per year.
